The Wardrobe Shrink February Newsletter
February 22, 2005

Hello and welcome to the December issue of The Wardrobe Shrink Newsletter.

Sarah Whittaker

What's New

I am just back from a three week trip working with clients in London. It was great to be back; the trends in London are so fast pacing, but why is everyone in London wearing Cowboy boots! A change from the Juicy Couture sweatsuits that are seen on many a street corner in the suburbs of San Francisco. Trends for this Spring along with suggested items to buy are included in this newsletter.

Desperate Housewives, the new tv-series seems to have hit the screens in the UK. Another show, like Sex and the City, that depicts women with immaculate wardrobes, make-up, and super fit and trim bodies. All the Press have picked it up over here, and not a day goes by when we are not introduced to the cast's favourite fashion picks. Now let's not all become 'desperate' and forget the reality of everyday living. To look like any of these women requires a rather large account with Neiman Marcus/Selfridges, as well as a personal trainer/make-up artist/stylist. The story lines are great, we all get hooked, but after all they are just stories. The reality of those that are quite desperate is very different. I think we should get some t-shirts printed saying 'I am not a desperate housewife!'.

A mention of the E-Book, this is underway and I am hoping to make this available within the next six weeks. This program is full of information on how to transform your personal image and make an impact using your own best assets. Often who we are is enough, it is just a question of showing that! It will be available to buy on-line on the website.

The March Newsletter will be on it's way shortly to make up for the lack of a January Issue. Next Month I will featuring Weddings - advice and tips.
Sarah.

New Year, New You...or just a few tweaks!

Now that the 'new year' hype is over and you have finished reading all the suggested makeover opportunities that can transform your body, your mind and your health, what for your personal image can you really do at home or with little outside effort, without making a huge life change? A new yoga routine with combined diet may sound enticing, but in reality few people have the time or inclination to apply such a change to their lifestyle overnight. After all, if you try these new regimes, they tend to fade out by the end of February anyway.

Often all that is required is a small change in the way we are thinking, a little time to ourself. This can do us the world of good and make a huge difference as they give us the boost that we really need.

I have created a list of things that you can do that will impact how you feel about yourself, give you a positive kick and help you achieve a healthier personal image.

  • Eyebrow reshape - They say 'your eyes are the window to your soul'. People use your eyes as a gage to how you are feeling. An eyebrow in a shape that works for you can do wonders in lifting and opening the entire eye area, and improving how you are seen or perceived. Your brow shape also impacts the look of the whole face. Reshaping is more than just the regular 'pluck', it is about clearing, trimming and fine tuning to create a shape that reflects your personality and matches with the sparkle in your eye...(cont'd)

  • Bra's to fit - One of the easiest mistakes we can make as women is to choose the wrong bra for our shape and size. If you feel you need to take your bra off as soon as you get home, the chances are that it isn't the right size for you. Often as we change shape, we go up in bra measurement but in fact we should go up in bra cup. We all come in different shapes and sizes so it is easy to look at a friend and think we can't be a bigger cup...(cont'd)

    Best Buys

'Spanx' - the new shapers that are taking Hollywood by storm, are fantastically fitted undergarments made of this spandex hosiery style fabric. They smooth all bumps or extra lumps, so that you can wear any trouser, skirt or dress leaving a clean finish. When you take them out the packet, they seem very unlikely to fit, but persevere and pull them up and they work a treat. I needed something to wear under a new skirt as the fabric was quite soft and transparent. Rather than just a slip which would show off any support underwear, these Spanx made my rear and thighs look tidy and smooth under the skirt. Their best quality is that you feel really great about your body shape and feel very comfortable. You can honour your curves without having to struggle on the treadmill. Women of all sizes are wearing them as they create such a good finish. Available at Selfridges hosiery department or online in the US. Their strap line 'don't worry, we cover your butt' is quite accurate.
