The Wardrobe Shrink February Newsletter February 28, 2006 |
|||
Hello and welcome to latest issue of The Wardrobe Shrink Newsletter. ![]() What's NewJanuary went by so quickly, I didn't even get a chance to get a newsletter out to you, and now February is slipping away too! Yes, things are moving ahead here in Georgia and I am excited by two new media opportunities - I will be starting my own Style and Image Column in the Savannah Morning News this weekend and also I have a feature coming out in the AJC - Atlanta Journal. I will share all the information in the next newsletter. I also have an article that is just out in Holland in Psychologie Magazine about my new Distance Image Consultation. A new project I am working on 'Teen Esteem', is also picking up momentum. I will be running a workshop for 100-150 teenage girls on self-esteem and personal image. I will write an article about it for the April Newsletter edition. It is the season for Award Ceremonies and we all lucky to have the various entertainment networks sending out their Style Presenters to walk the Red Carpet and comment on the fashion choices of the Stars. Or maybe we are not that lucky! I wish someone would create an award for best and worst dressed Style Presenter. I think it was Stacey from Inside Edition that beats everyone hands down for worst-dressed. She wore the magenta satin gown with black frill or ruffles, and would have fit nicely into a 1980's Prom night. It really was astoundingly unstylish. Isaac, best-dressed, had the right idea I think by asking the questions we all want to know, and now we understand how the Celebrity gals have no V.P.L. with those skimpy dresses. But as for the Celebrities, I want to only focus on my favourites as how can anyone be the worst dressed in all those jewels and gorgeous fabrics! Adrien Brody was by the far the most stylish and debonair; his European elegance is 'classic' at the same time as being unique. He really has style! Evangeline Lily (Kate from Lost) was the best dressed woman in my opinion. Such a simple dress but she chose the best colour for her - emerald green and it looked stunning. She appeared at ease, comfortable and not at all like she was trying to hold it all together. And for such a natural jeans and tee girl too - bravo! That is what having personal style is all about. I also want to remind you that I offer Remote Shopping Consultations. Although I know people wish to work with me face-2-face, this service does allow me to top-up your wardrobe and suggest items for the new season ahead. And I now have posted my recommended Book-List, so check it out! ![]()
The Inner Beauty FormulaThe beauty industry today is an enormous market. According to current estimates the cosmetics and toiletries industry is worth over US$45 billion to US$66 billion worldwide. We spend a lot of money pampering ourselves but does it really make us feel beautiful? When you look in the mirror do you think you are the 'fairest of them all'? The old adage 'beauty is only skin deep' is very relevant; however beautiful you may look on the outside, it is also about how beautiful you feel on the inside. If you don't feel beautiful on the inside, then beauty advice and treatments will feel like a quick fix and then you go back to the You that you are familiar with.Did you know that everyone is beautiful? Including you? I often tell my clients that, and they feel...uncomfortable, sometimes they think I am just being positive. In British culture, (I am a Brit) it is common not to be very positive about yourself; even to be a bit invalidating; modesty is simply overdone. But this comment is the truth. I have worked with many clients in different countries and it is always the case. Believe me, you are not the exception either. We all have our unique blueprint that, like the colours of the rainbow, reflects its own light (metaphorically speaking). The problem is often without being conscious of it, we mute or even turn off our own light, and then we don't shine at all! We opt for a 'reflective' moisturiser hoping that will change things or a 'hair colour enhancer', but then adding colour can distort our own 'rainbow'. We all know how a colour scheme can be thrown off by adding one colour; it changes the psychological mix. So, how do you develop your inner beauty, so that your authentic beauty shines from within? How do you tap into your own given beauty? Read the rest of the article to understand more about your inner beauty. Best BuysLipstick or Gloss? Paula Dorf Lipsicle offers both with a lipstick style texture but in gloss format. Gloss can sometimes be too sticky or lack depth in colour, but lipsicle is neither. Renoir is a great red, in keeping with this season's hot lip colour. Remember when applying red lipstick that you want to soften the eyes a bit to avoid overkill. This makes it more suitable to daywear rather than just for night-time.Struggling with your body image and would like some advice? Have an image dilemma and want to know what you can do?
