Bathing Suits to Suit You

Whether you are lounging by the pool or lying on the beach, you want to look the best you can by wearing a bathing suit that flatters your figure. Let's face it, unless you are just out of college or on America's Next Top Model, the thought of exposing all that flesh to the rest of the world can be quite disconcerting. But everyone can look great on the beach, you just need to find the bathing suit that enhances your best assets rather than your least favourite. The feminine figure is something to be proud of and you should shop with as much care when choosing a suit as you would when buying a dress.

The Georgia weather is new to me and this is my first summer lounging around a pool at the weekends. In London, you get as much chance to put on a bathing suit as you would to wear a winter coat in Savannah. Instead, it only comes out of the closet for the yearly summer holiday in the Mediterranean and if you pick the wrong style bathing suit for yourself, you are too far away from friends and foe to worry about it! Now though, I find myself hanging around the pool or being watched over the fence by the same people that I meet in Kroger! So, I was relieved that I picked the best suit possible on my 5 second rush into Target a few weeks ago, and found myself the least bit self-conscious and even 'strutting my stuff' as they say in London (translation – shaking my bootie)!

Here are some tips for enhancing and flattering your figure in a bathing suit:-

Tummy Tuck
Tuck in your tummy with a tankini, a shaper swim suit or for the curvier figure opt for a skirt-suit. Bold prints also help flatter your tummy as well as the baby doll style swim top.

Seat Coverage
If you have an ample seat, then a low rise scoop suit bottom works well for you or a skirt suit. This will be more flattering than the high waist which will reveal too much cheek. A waistband, a side tie and a full curved print such as an animal print will add some detail and ensure your curves look sexy.

Bust Minimizer
A halter neck, a bold curved pattern, or stronger colour will be more for you. Where you have more you can put more detail. A gathered bust is also best. You want to avoid a push-up bra or cleavage enhancer as this will only draw attention to you and feel like you are too pert and pronounced.

Bust Maximizer
A Triangle bikini top, angular pattern, string straps or a push-up bra with cleavage enhancer and straight straps. These will all give you a lift or make the most of your bust.

Leg Extension
A high leg bottom will elongate your legs for those that are long-waisted. You will have to make sure you make a Wax appointment though!

Hip and Thigh Reduction
Boy shorts or a swim skirt will flatter a firmer thigh. You can also opt for an all-in-one that is more unique or a sarong that you can wrap around a short.

Curve Enhancement
Opt for ringlets at the side al Ursula Andress James Bond Style, preferably in a neutral – white, cream or black, brown - to emphasize the detail. Otherwise, horizontal stripes will also do the trick.
