Faces of Time
Wearing a watch is important in terms of personal image. Your watch indicates to others that you value your time and theirs, and it says that you can be counted on to be on time. With thefashionable watches that are made today, the watch is no longer simply a timepiece or an image enhancer, but also a style statement. Designs range from full ‘bling’, to bold colors, tounusual materials. However, the main purpose of a watch is that is an extension of the wearer. And the first step to achieving that is in the watch face. The watch face should reflect your own face shape for it to sit comfortably on your body and to become part of you. If you have a curved, soft body shape then an angular and structured watch is going to stand out on your like a sore thumb, and vice versa. Here are some sample watches in different shapes to help you find the right watch for you.
RectangularYour face shape is rectangle if you have a longer forehead, jaw-line and narrower face, and the jawline and forehead are the similar width. BetseyJohnson $95
SquareYour face shape is square if you forehead and jawline are similarwidths, and the forehead and jawline are shorter. Fossil$85
TriangleYour face shape is triangle if you have a shorter face with a defined chin and cheekbones, and narrower forehead. If you have atriangle upper torso, you also suit this pendant as it sits around your neck. Marcby Marc Jacobs $99.90
CircleYour face shape is a circle if you have wider and softer cheekbones, with a curved and soft chin and neckline. Marcby Marc Jacobs $149
OvalYour face shape is oval if you have a longer face – chin and forehead – and a softer curve around your hairline. AKAnne Klein Charm Watch $125
HeartYour face is heart shape if you have fuller cheeks, a softer cheekbone, a more defined chin with wider cheek line and a heart shape point at your hairline. BetseyJohnson Heart Charm $95
The texture and style of the watch also help to define your perfect watch. Metals and more structured textures suit more structured people, and softer fabrics suit more go-with-the-flow personality types. Colors are best chosen to suit your undertone and color psychology, and the style of the watch needs to reflect your personality. So, buying a watch is truly a personal experience and not something anyone else can do for you – unless they know you really well!
