Image Archetypes
Famous psychiatrist Carl G. Jung believed that we each have both a personal and collective (or impersonal) unconscious, an unconscious that is universal and common to all. Within that collective unconscious there exists a language - ideas and patterns of behaviour - that we all share. This language is made up of archetypes rather than words. An archetype is an image or pictorial symbol imbued with emotion. Myths and fairytales are expressions of archetypes; for example, Little Red Riding hood represents innocence in danger of being lost; whereas, the Wolf symbolises the dangerous, cunning but resourceful component of human nature. The language of Style can also be expressed using archetypes and this is the essence of the Image Type System from Insideout. Often people look in the mirror but don't recognise their own reflection; they don't feel in harmony with their image. Their Image Type activates an archetype and evokes an inner recognition and emotion that corresponds to their true self. Then, they can adorn and express themselves according to this true reflection. So, imagine you are part of the collective or the tribe. What image or archetype do you reflect? The Image Type System from Insideout consists of thirty-five archetypes, one of which will resonate with you. An Image Type is an idea or a template; as Jung more succinctly put it archetypes are "inherited possibilities of ideas".
"The archetype is made of image and emotion; the image presents the meaning of the emotion, and the emotion gives the image its dynamic energy." - John Perry Book a Distance Consultation and discover your Image Type. Learn more about Image Profiling or Sarah's successes.
